修復の目的
古くから受け継がれてきた物には、
その時代や持ち主の記憶が宿る。
漆の修復は、そうした記憶を守りながら、
先の未来へ繋いでいくための技法である。
細胞が生命を守るように、
漆もまた、ものを守り、
保ち続ける働きを持つ。
Objects passed down through the ages hold
within them the memories of their era and their owners.
Urushi (lacquer) restoration is a technique designed
to preserve those memories
and pass them on to future generations.
Just as cells protect life,
urushi, too, protects objects
and has the power to sustain them.
かつて日本から海を渡り"JAPAN"と呼ばれた漆器は、世界中で愛され、使われ続けてきた。それらは単なる工芸品ではなく、時代を越えて人々の暮らしに寄り添って きた歴史そのものである。
Lacquerware, which once crossed the seas from Japan and came to be known as “JAPAN,” has been loved and used around the world ever since. These pieces are not merely crafts; they are history itself, having been an integral part of people’s lives across the ages.
割れや欠け、摩耗は、長く使われてきた証。
漆は塗り重ねることで幾層もの保護膜を形成し、細胞が生命を守るように、器の本質を包み込みながら生かし続ける。
その痕跡を丁寧に受け止め、必要な手当てを施すことで、器は再び日常の中で息づき、次の世代へと繋ぐことを可能にする。
Cracks, chips, and wear are evidence of a long history of use.
Through repeated layers of lacquer, a protective coating is formed that, much like cells protecting life, envelops the objects essence and keeps it alive.
By carefully acknowledging these marks and providing the necessary care, the objects comes alive once more in our daily lives, making it possible to pass it on to the next generation.
