twofold ("we," "us," or "our") is an independent art and craft studio based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, working with urushi (Japanese lacquer) to restore and reimagine discarded objects. Our website is located at www.twofold.work.

SHIPPING, RETURNS & LEGAL NOTICES
Shipping Policy
Processing Time
All twofold pieces are handcrafted, one-of-a-kind works. Orders are carefully packaged and typically dispatched within 5–10 business days of payment confirmation. You will receive a shipping notification with tracking information once your order has been dispatched.
Shipping Rates
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Estimated rates are as follows:

Rates are subject to change. Final shipping cost is confirmed at checkout.
Free shipping may be available for orders above a certain value — please check the website for current promotions.
Customs, Duties & Import Taxes
For orders shipped outside the European Union (including Japan and other international destinations), customs duties, import taxes, and local fees may apply upon arrival in the destination country. These charges are the responsibility of the customer and are not included in the purchase price or shipping fee. twofold has no control over these charges and cannot predict their amount.
We recommend checking with your local customs office for estimated fees before placing an order.

Returns & Refunds
General Policy
Each twofold piece is a unique, handcrafted work created individually. We take great care in preparing and packaging every order to ensure it arrives safely.
Please note: all sales are final unless the item arrives damaged due to a shipping incident. We do not accept returns based on personal preference or change of mind, given the handcrafted and one-of-a-kind nature of our pieces.

EU / EEA Customers — Right of Withdrawal
In accordance with EU consumer law (Directive 2011/83/EU), customers located in the European Economic Area have the right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of receiving their order, without providing a reason. To exercise this right, please contact us within this period via our website contact form.
Upon return of the item in its original, undamaged condition, we will process a refund of the product price within 14 days of receiving the returned item. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the item was received damaged or incorrect.
Please note: The right of withdrawal does not apply to custom or bespoke orders created specifically for a customer.
 
Damaged Items
We package all works with exceptional care. However, if your item arrives damaged as a result of transit, please:

  1. Photograph the damage to both the item and the packaging within 48 hours of receipt

  2. Contact us via our website contact form with a description and photos

  3. We will assess the situation and work with you toward a fair resolution

Depending on the nature and extent of the damage, we may offer a partial refund, full refund, or replacement where possible. Please retain all original packaging materials until the matter is resolved, as they may be required by the carrier for insurance claims.
We are not responsible for damage resulting from improper handling by the customer after delivery.

Lost or Delayed Packages
If your shipment has not arrived within the estimated delivery window, please first check the tracking information provided. If the package appears lost, contact us and we will initiate an investigation with the carrier on your behalf. Resolution timelines depend on the carrier's process.
